Turkey Congee Recipe

In Chinese households, we love using the leftover turkey to make a yummy turkey porridge that has the fragrance of turkey combined with the lightness of congee.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb turkey or leftover turkey
  • 1 cup of jasmine rice
  • 10 cups of water

Instructions

  • Rinse rice in cold water 3 times and drain. 
  • If you want to make a turkey congee, season raw turkey with salt and pepper.
  • Add in rice and turkey to the instant pot. Add in 10 cups of water and close the lid.
  • Set the instant pot to porridge setting, high pressure, and to cook for 30 minutes. 
  • Towards the end of the 30 mins, release the steam 
  • Open the lid. The congee will still be watery and this is ok. Change setting to saute setting on instant pot and continue cooking congee until desired thickness. 
  • Add in salt to taste. Garnish with green onion and serve.
